How To Throw A Princess Diaries Party

It is no secret that I love to throw parties. They are just my favorite thing ever to plan and pull off. I kept seeing Princess Diaries Themed Parties and trends on social media and knew it would me such a good party theme. I had been wanting to throw a friend a surprise party for a while, but had to figure out the logistics and who would actually like it from my friend group. Everything worked out so well and I had the best co party planner ever for this party. We had the most fun night going back to Grove High, going to Genovia, and becoming like Princess Mia. Here is how to throw a princess diaries party of you very own.

Princess Diaries Party Decor Ideas

The Princess Diaries Party was so fun to decorate for and we drew a lot of inspiration from both movies. We started with the entry way being more honed in on the first movie and school. Then we threw in lots of easter eggs like the softball, headphones, and sunglasses. I made the backdrop with the paint balloons. It was actually much harder than I thought it would be but it turned out so cute.

Princess Diaries Themed Party- Food Ideas

Themed party food is half the fun and we had so much inspiration because the film is full of fun little nods to things and really the options are endless with food. You could throw an all out dinner party al a the first dinner, or do all the treats from throughout the movies. We chose to serve a little bit of everything. The pear popcorn came from the second movie, while the pizza and corndogs were from the first. We also served mint chocolate chip ice cream in plastic margarita glasses to represent the mint sorbet.

We had a few areas for decor because we chose to focus on different aspects of the films. Even if we don’t use a table formally, I always love to set a table anyway. I think it sets the theme and provides a cute focal point. We wanted to model our table off of the fancy dinner Mia attends at the embassy, as well as throw in her bachelorette/ bridal shower sleepover party. Party Planning Tips and Tricks

When planning your own princess diaries party, or any party for that matter, the details are key. You can really add so many cute things for very little cost. We printed out Genovian flags to make a banner, flag food picks, and name tags. It was a small thing but it really just added to the decor. We also added ribbons to a lot of things and bows which just make everything cuter. My favorite thing was trying to add in nods to the movie every way we could.

I also always recommend adding florals. You can get them really inexpensively from Trader Joe’s, and a little goes a long way. I love that they can be spread out and added in so many places. Flowers pack a huge party punch.

We wanted to have some type of activity and thought it would be perfect to have a charm bracelet bar. I got tons of charms and the bracelets (do not forget the tools as well). It was so fun to see what everyone created and it was an easy craft to do while we all chatted and hung out. Here is a link to a ton of charm supplies. You do need a few things, but really it is an easy and fun project to put together.

If you were throwing your own princess diaries party for a younger demographic, it would be fun to have a bounce house to represent mattress surfing, or mattress surfing if you could pull it off.
