What To Do in Niagara Falls

12 Hours in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has been on my bucket list for a long time, but not many people actually want to make the journey there. David had already been when he was younger but was excited to go back. This trip was a bit of a whirlwind- we had three locations chosen, checked the flights, and the one to Buffalo looked best. We booked our car and hotel as soon as we landed in Buffalo and did not really have any idea what we were going to do.

It turns out, Niagara Falls really does not take much planning. I would say Niagara Falls really only needs a half day to experience everything.

We started by just walking to the falls and taking it all in before we headed to the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour. We got on fairly early in the morning and there were only 6 other people on the boat with us. It was definitely a must see for your trip to Niagara Falls.

After, we walked across the border into Canada and looked at the falls from the other side. The Canada side was definitely more scenic and prettier, but it was also super touristy (like Ripley’s Believe it or Not, a Hershey Museum, and tons of kitschy stuff). We walked up and down that side before heading back to the US.

We visited Goat Island and walked around as much as we could. After we walked around the cute little area/ town and stumbled across a park area with giant lawn games so we stopped to play a game of giant checkers We ran out of things to do after and realized, we definitely only needed half a day there. It definitely lived up to every expectation though and I loved the falls so much.

( don’t mind my wet shirt ha!)

On our flight home we flew to Atlanta where David had to stay for two weeks of his final jet training. I needed to get back to Salt Lake and every flight kept filling. We looked up alternate routes and I was going to so to Chicago and connect there to get back to Salt Lake. Both flights left at 10:50 in different gates in the Atlanta airport and I was at the opposite one, but still holding out hope to get on the direct. David went to check with them while I waited for the one I did not want just in case. With 5 minutes to spare, I was cleared on the direct flight and ran from one terminal to another. I made it with 30 seconds to spare. The gate agents were so nice and were holding it until I got there and I finally made it home. Non Rev Success
